It Began With Your Smile

Once there was a boy named James. He always played in a little park near his house. One day as always after doing his homework he went out to play, after a while all his friends went home and he was left alone. He sat on the swing when suddenly a girl came and sat on the one next to him. She turned to him and smiled saying, "Hi there, I'm Ruth!". He smiled back and said, "Ah um, h-hello...my name is James."

She asked him, "Are you here alone?" and he nodded in reply. She looked at him curiously, "Hey, hey, James, I just moved here will u be my friend?" James looked at her in surprise and smiled brightly, "Yeah!! Lets be friends Ruth." And together they played for a long time until it was almost dark. Later when James went back home, he opened the door and called out, "Mom!! I'm home..." But there was no reply nor could one see anyone else in the house. James made a sad face again and walked in. As he passed the kitchen he saw that there was some food laid out on the table covered. He made his way towards it and noticed a note kept at the side. It read, "I'm out for work. Eat the food and do the dishes. I'll be back later. Mom"

James crumpled the paper in his hand. He ate he's food and went up to his room. Later the next day, he woke up and went to school. At school after the bell chimed the teacher came in followed behind by a girl. James had he's head down so he hadn't noticed. The teacher said, "From today onward Ruth Mard will be a part of this class as well". Everyone whispered among each other, when James heard the name 'Ruth' he immediately looked up. Their eyes met and she smiled brightly.

After class everyone went over to Ruth because they wanted to talk to her. When she was finally free, James went over to her. "Hello, Ruth" she  looked up and saw James, she said, "James!! Finally I can speak to you." And they both giggled. Ruth said, "I'm glad we are in the same class" James replied, "Yeah me too. Shall we go home together?" Ruth nodded her head as she packed her bag. As they walked home they decide to meet at the park again later on. So they went to their homes finished their homework and met at the park. And so the days repeated in the same way over and over.

In time they became close friends, their friendship was a very beautiful relationship where they could trust each other no matter what happened. Many of those around them sometimes thought they were dating, but they always cleared away that misunderstanding. Many used to even say that the should actually get together and start dating.
